Dad had a journal entry in one of his documents that read:
The Great Aurora of Nov. 5, 2001
From Paradise California from C. 7:30- 8:30 PM
Jan and I, along with many others watched from Lookout Point. The night was very dark and we were careful not to step over the edge of a very high cliff. The colors on the bottom varied from yellow to greenish, the top red. At times yellow rays moved up through the red while all slowly moved from top to bottom and from east to west
You are looking toward the north in all these photos and the big dipper can be seen in the lower ΒΌ of each photo.
Another view of the Aurora with more of the greenish yellow prominent. It was all very exciting for us as we seldom see any Aurora in Northern California. Although these look like sunsets, they are just a blaze of color courtesy of the North Pole.
